Who we are
This policy explains how Honorguard Productions Pty Ltd (ABN 44 625 645 605, currently registered as Shadiversity Pty Ltd while the company name change is processed) ("Honorguard", "we", "us") handles personal information. It covers our websites:
- shadiversity.com.au
- shadmbrooks.com
- shadlands.com and shadlands.com.au
- honorguardproductions.com
Shadiversity, Shad M. Brooks, Knights Watch, Shad AI, The Shadlands, The Latter Day Knight and Quietly Quirky Me are brands of Honorguard Productions.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) as good practice. We keep this simple: we collect only what we need, we don't sell your information, and you can ask us about it at any time.
What we collect
Information you give us:
- Contact forms: your name (if you give it), email address, the subject and your message.
- Newsletter sign-ups: your email address, your first name if you give it, and a record that you agreed to receive our emails.
- Fan mail and messages you send us: whatever you choose to include. Fan art you send may be shown on our channels; we'll never show your address or contact details.
Information collected automatically: when you visit our sites, our website host (Wix.com) records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site you came from. This helps the sites work, stay secure, and lets us see overall visitor numbers.
What we don't collect: we don't take payments on our sites. When you buy something through a link on our sites, you buy it from that store (for example Crowdmade, Romance of Men or Calimacil), and that store handles your payment and delivery details under its own privacy policy. We don't receive your card details. Memberships through YouTube, Patreon or SubscribeStar are handled by those platforms.
How we use and share it
We use your information to:
- reply to your messages
- send the newsletters and updates you've signed up for
- keep our sites working, secure and free of spam
- understand, in general terms, how our sites are used, so we can improve them
We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the services that run our sites and email, and only so they can do that job:
| Service | What it does for us |
|---|---|
| Wix.com | Hosts our websites and stores contact form messages |
| Mailchimp (Intuit) | Stores our newsletter list and your update choices, and sends our newsletters |
| Zoho Mail | Our email provider: messages you send to info@honorguardproductions.com are stored there |
| YouTube (Google) | Hosts the videos shown on our sites |
Our team members who handle enquiries can see the messages you send us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone's safety.
Emails and newsletters
We only send newsletters and updates to people who have signed up for them. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time; we'll stop within 5 working days, as the Spam Act 2003 (Cth) requires. You can also ask us to unsubscribe you by emailing info@honorguardproductions.com.
Our official emails only come from @honorguardproductions.com addresses. If you get an email claiming to be from Shadiversity, Shad M. Brooks or The Shadlands from any other address, it isn't from us. Please don't reply to it or click its links.
When you subscribe, you choose which updates you want (Shadiversity channel updates and products; Shad M. Brooks books, music and general updates; The Shadlands build progress and news). You can change these at any time with the "update your preferences" link in any email. Mailchimp, the service we send newsletters with, records whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked, so we can see overall what readers find useful.
Cookies, affiliate links and other websites
Cookies: our sites use cookies and similar technology, mostly set by Wix, to make the sites work (for example keeping a form working while you fill it in), to keep them secure, and to count visits. We don't use advertising cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the sites will still work, though some features may not.
Embedded videos: some pages show YouTube videos. YouTube may set its own cookies when a video loads or plays. Where we can, we use YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't set those cookies until you press play.
Affiliate links: some product links, especially on our recommended swords pages, are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The store may use a cookie or code in the link to tell it you came from us. We only recommend products Shad has reviewed.
Other websites: our sites link to stores and platforms we don't run, including Crowdmade, Dashery, Romance of Men, Calimacil, Swordier, Kult of Athena, Audible, Amazon, YouTube, Patreon and SubscribeStar. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.
Storage, security and overseas transfers
Your information is stored by Wix, Mailchimp and Zoho, who use secure data centres. Wix and Mailchimp store data in the United States and other countries; Zoho stores our email in Australia. By using our sites, you understand your information may be stored outside Australia, where privacy laws may differ. We choose providers with strong security and privacy practices.
All our sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only team members who need it can access your information, and our accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-step verification.
We keep your information only as long as we need it: contact messages for as long as needed to deal with them, and newsletter details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. We may keep a record that you unsubscribed so we don't email you again.
Your choices
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you
- correct it if it's wrong
- delete it, or stop sending you emails
Email info@honorguardproductions.com with "Privacy" in the subject line. We'll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we share or change anything.
If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have rights under the GDPR, including to object to how we use your information and to complain to your local data protection authority. If you live in California, you can ask what we've collected about you; we don't sell or share personal information for advertising.
Children
Our content is made for a general audience. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you're under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before signing up to our newsletter or contacting us. If you believe a child has given us their details, contact us and we'll delete them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make a significant change, we'll say so on our sites or in our newsletter.
